Why Access to Period Products Matters

Menstruation is a natural part of life, but a lot of people cannot afford or find what they need to manage their periods. Menstrual equity makes period products and education accessible to people of all income levels and backgrounds.

Many people, especially in low-income areas, cannot afford pads or tampons. If they do not have access to proper products, they may use unsanitary alternatives and create health risks. In addition, the stigma around menstruation results in difficulty even in talking about or addressing these needs.

In some instances, being unable to manage periods properly affects education, work, and health. Everybody deserves equal opportunities to live freely without barriers because of menstruation and its effects on daily life.

We can make period products more affordable, provide free products in schools and public places, and improve education about menstruation to reduce stigma.

Access to menstrual products isn’t a luxury—it’s a basic need. By making these products accessible to all, we can create a more equal and supportive world for everyone.
